A new website has come to my attention called Fashionspace.com. This website is a website where you can buy, sell, swap and chat about fashion along with other exciting things to look at such as fashion event listings and fashion news.
Everything is welcome to be sold, bought or swapped including your second hand clothing, vintage wear or your independent designed clothing if you have any. What’s more exciting than that? It’s free! Free to list items, free to register and free to set up shop. Choose to shop and sell under categories such as art, accessories, bags, health and beauty and clothes to name a few.
Visit Fashion Space online to see what I’m talking about and register for free.
The other night I was enjoying watching Fanny Hill on tv, but it was on really late and I fell asleep and missed the end. I wished that I had got up and set the video. However I was happy to discover BBC’s iPlayer the next day. I could watch the whole episode again as well as Eastenders, the real hustle or any of the BBC’s popular programmes from the previous week. If you have a decent Internet connection you can watch the programmes as they stream and the quality is uncompromised so its just a good as watching TV, but you can pick what you want to watch when you want.
If you prefer you can download the programmes to your PC using the BBCi player download manager. Unfortunately there are only a limited selection of shows available at one time so its not ‘TV on demand’ just yet but this site is one to watch for the future.
Originally this service could only be used by Windows XP and Vista users but it has been officially reported this month that Mac and Linux users be also able to download programmes as well as streaming. There will be also applications to make shows viewable from websites such as facebook and Youtube. Eric Huggers of the BBC said “We’re actively pursuing relationships with more suppliers to make sure the iPlayer becomes available on more services as well as Virgin Media, so that users have direct access to content on a TV through the iPlayer, “Use of iPlayer will no doubt become widespread in 2008. Watch out for the marketing campaign of the revamped iplayer which is to be launched on Christmas day.

FreeRice.Com asks you to become a walking thesaurus but all in the name of a good cause! You are asked to guess the most appropriate synonym for one of the random and often quite bizarre words you are presented with… why you might ask? Well for every word you manage to guess the correct meaning of, the sponsors, who include American express and itunes, will donate 10 grains of rice. I know it doesn’t sound like much but this game is seriously addictive. You’ll be donating a bag of rice in no time. Plus there are so many people playing around the world that this campaign is bound to have a huge impact. So far 1,897,053,670 grains have been donated.
This game is great fun! Well its fun if you like words anyway! But not only that, it’s helping people, so even if you hate scrabble and can’t stand to be in two feet of a dictionary, you should give it a go! You will learn some impressive new words in the meantime. See what vocab level you can reach…. Your level is in the bottom right corner of the question box. There are 50 levels but apparently not many people get above level 48….personally I can’t get passed 42 but I’m going to donate a lot of rice trying! Enjoy
If you are one of the only few people with a social life beyond your desk, I salute you. Look away now, don’t even think about entering the evil world of Facebook. However if you are already living your life through the Internet, and lets face it you are reading this blog so you probably are, you might be interested in some Facebook distractions - Perfect for that boring day at work.
Anyway I just thought I’d write about some of the Facebook groups I’ve come across this week that I’ve found particularly amusing and of course informative (its not all a complete waste of time you know). My Favourite find this week has to be the ‘ if 500,000 people join this group i will change my middle name to Facebook’ group. Andrian Anderson is offering to become a true child of his times by changing his middle name to the Norwegian equivalent of ‘Facebook’. He’s a cool looking chap pictured with a glass of wine and panama hat. I think he’d really suit the name. The groups doing pretty well, he’s obviously put some effort in by publishing in multiple languages… he must really want this. so join up there are only 377,885 more members needed!
My second group this week is called ‘Fatal Mistakes Men Make During Sex’ it contains some much needed pointers for guys to follow when they are in bed with nice girls such as us. Some are a bit harsh but most are very true. I think this group is a must read for all guys who are ever planning to have sex with a woman again. Ladies join this group and spread the knowledge. Hopefully we will never have to suffer a number 16 again. Personally I’d love to read something like this written for girls by a guy… if you find something similar let me know.
The new Bacardi advert has just been brought to my attention and I’ve got to say it’s a sure hit, lovin’ the soundtrack and the CGI is amazing. Click the link below to take a peek for yourselves.
Have you ever had a problem with an iPod, mobile phone or PC that you wanted to fix the same day? I have, but if like me you can’t be bothered to sit on the phone to a customer service advisor for an hour or contact the manufacturer then you too will be thrilled to discover FixYa.com. The website has an endless list of consumer products with help and advice on both common and rare faults or problems that may occur.
The website is basically a social tech support website where millions of people can get free online support by community experts. If the problem you are experiencing has not already been answered, you can post your own questions and await a response, it’s definitely worth a look.
I just found a really cool site that I had to share with you, it is a selection of models and celebrity illustartions that you can dress up in different clothes by clicking and placing them on the body yourself. Above is one I created of Tyra Banks, they also have Mariah Carey, Halle Berry, Ashton Kutcher, Angelina Jolie and loads more. They are known as dress up dolls and all the illustrations are extremely realistic.
Give it a go, it’s really fun! The website is called Cartoon Doll Emporium, you can now dress up your favourite celebrities in what you think they should wear!
If you’re a Web 2.0 geek MyCoolButton.com will be right up your street. It allows you to design your very own customised button to use on your website. It’s free to use and extremely easy to understand – even I could use it!
The button above took me less than a minute to create, this site will be added to my Favorites!
It’s pretty normal to find a sellotape dispenser or a USB hub lying around the office so the person responsible for combining the two is no less than a genius – we all use sellotape and most of us could do with a few extra USB ports after all.
The Tape Dispenser With Ports Hub was actually created by Earth-Trek, a company based in Hong Kong and is available in a variety of colours (although this funky red, green, yellow and grey has to be my favourite). You can also put your own company’s logo onto it, which I must admit I’m pretty impressed with!
A few days ago we wrote a post on the new iPhone - if you want to see a video of it in action click on the clip below … it totally sold it to me! I’m not usually overly impressed with gadgets but this is going to be huge. I love how much detail has gone into the design, everything has been thought through in so much depth, from visual voicemail (to save you having to listen to each in turn) to zooming into photos using your fingers - I now think the price (between $499 and $599) is pretty reasonable!
I came across a blog this morning that I found rather fascinating and want to read more about the subject. The article entitled Wii Sports Experiment, Results! reveals how a young male spent six weeks of his life incorporating a thirty minute exercise regime into his daily schedule. He continued all normal activity and eating habits but just added thirty minutes of Wii Sports to his day. If you’re not familiar with the game it is a collection of sports such as boxing, golf, tennis and bowling that allow you to physically interact with the game using a sensor within the controller. Below is an example of someone playing tennis.
After six weeks of Nintendo Wii Sports he lost 9lbs just by adding a thirty minute game into his day. He also worked out how many calories each game burned and therefore which one was the most effective for loosing weight. See the blog for videos of the experiment and the whole story.
After the success of products such as the iPod, iTunes and the Mac, US giant Apple are set to revolutionise the telecoms industry with their new iPhone. The phone combines three key products; a mobile phone, an iPod with multi-touch display and an Internet communications device. The iPhone means no more cluttered pockets or huge handbags to carry all your necessary technology – simply slip your iPhone into that cute little clutch bag you’ve been dying to take out and combine all your software into one small lightweight gadget.
You will be able to download music and videos, use high quality email, browse the web, use maps and search on Google all from one screen. The phone also offers a full touch keyboard for texting and emailing and has a 2-megapixel integrated camera.
The iPhone will be launched in the US in June 2007 and will come over to Europe later in the year. At between $499 and $599 the gadget doesn’t come cheap but if you can cut out the price of all your other gadgets it could be well worth it.

The ability to track your friends via their phones is a concept that scares me quite a bit! Loopt are calling this ‘Social Mapping’ – basically, you can access a map with your friends represented as dots on up to 25 miles away, in real time. On one hand this is a fantastic idea – you can only see individuals that you’ve exchanged numbers with and there is an opt-out option should you not want to be tracked. So if you see a friend is close you could arrange to meet, it will save lots of pennies on the ‘where r u?’ texts if nothing else!
On the other hand, I can imagine this creating a world where everyone always knows where you are – I like having time to myself and I’m sure I’m not the only one who tells a few fibs now and then to get out of plans I don’t want to join in on. So there is the opt-out option but then your friends will probably know you don’t want to be spotted! And what is this going to do to the suspicious-minded individuals who will always be watching where their other half is – this brings a whole new meaning to keeping an eye on someone!
Only time will tell whether this concept is embraced (although I can imagine it becoming extremely popular) but I can’t help feeling more and more trapped – I like people not knowing my every move! But then again, it could be fun … I remain undecided!
