Saturday, February 9th, 2008

heartpurse.jpgIt must be that Valentines feeling that’s in the air as I’ve got hearts on my mind!! It’s now just days to go before we celebrate being with that someone special, so what better way for our other halves to show how much we mean to them by presenting us with this ultra cute coin purse.

It’s the perfect luxury pressie, with jewel hard wearing leather for the exterior and contrasting signature soft-suede for the lining. It even has a high quality Swiss made gold/silver zip closure. It’s the perfect size to keep loose change in and will certainly be a welcome addition to my handbag.

Well I think Aspinal of London have definitely found an easy route to my heart with these beauties. You even have a choice of 4 colours including pink, purple and blue and cost £35.00 - why not go for one of each!! They could even double up a little party clutch - very cute!!

tannedbag.jpgIf you want the classic trend look this season then simply get yourself a tanned bag!! Anybody who’s anybody is clambering on to the tan bag trend including the likes of Mary Kate Olsen and Liv Tyler.

The key to the tanned bag is to buy one that’s big enough to fit all your day to night belongings in such as killer heels. The tanned bag is great for that hitting the bar straight from scenario. You should try and stick to the worn tan leather look and if you choose a more classic style be sure to mix with quirkier outfits.

Juicy Courture KnickersShopping for underwear is always a lot of fun. I am a massive Victoria’s Secret fan so when I visited the states I stocked up on some of the funky printed low rise hipster knickers they stock but now I’m going Juicy mad.

The cute set of three multicoloured boy short style knickers are comfortable and stylish, a great new addition to the underwear drawer. Each boy short comes packaged as a cupcake, with a ‘fun logo’ on both the front and backs of the pants and have a logo embossed elasticated waistband.

Get your self some comfy couture at Net-A-Porter costing £43 for the set of three pants.

The famous brand can do no wrong at the moment and have just launched a fabulous new fragrance. Even if its not for you it would make a great gift!

Shrunken Blazers

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Topshop BlazerForget your long fitting winter blazer, this season is all about the cropped version in both length and arms.

To be able to pull this style off and be able to identify this trend, shape is the key!! The bottom of the jacket should sit a couple of inches lower than your waist and it’s probably best to steer clear of unflattering double-breasted cuts.

This great new spring style with look very stylish with simple jeans and a tee, however a coloured jacket would also look adorable over the bright spring outfits that appearing on the high street.

I have managed to locate this more classic looking cropped jacket available from Topshop. The great thing is that there’s not much chance of you mistaking it for a normal jacket as its actually called a shrunken blazer. It’s £50.00 and available on line or in store.

Orange Rules

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Orange ShoeIt appears the shade to be seen in at the moment is bright citrus orange and of course it’s the celebs that started the trend and have bought it to the high street - after all not much chance of them escaping paps in such a vibrant and bold colour.

As you can imagine, orange is by no means an easy colour to wear and pull off. I think the key here is to use the colour as a highlighting accessory in the form of a belt, bag or shoes. If you are brave enough to bear all and go for an orange frock then keep accessories to a minimum.

Whatever you do, do not wear this shade near any form heavily fake tanned skin - if you didn’t look like you had been tangoed before, you certainly will if this colour goes anywhere near you.

When searching the high street to see what orange goodies they had to offer, I came across these great shoes from www.brantano.co.uk. They are cheap as well at just £ 12.00 - perfect way to start my orange collection.

Who said big can’t be beautiful??

pirouette-shoes.JPGThese new shoes created by French Sole are fab!!

For all us BFG’s (big footed girls) out there, our prayers have been answered. French Sole have created a new range - Pirouette and it is exclusively for sizes 9-11.

Finally I hear you all cry, a decent shoe range in extra sizes. For me, high street stores only seem to sell the worst looking shoes ever in bigger sizes and even then they don’t go past a nine. It’s about time someone thought of designing nice fashionable shoes for those of us who have not been blessed with an average size 6 foot.

You can check out what beauties they have to offer at www.pirouetteshoes.com where you can order a catalogue. The shoes are great, price not so great. You are looking at around £65 per pair. Perhaps one day my fellow BFG’s we will be able to have big cheap shoes - keep dreaming ay!!!

Big Up Buttons

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

buttoncoat1.jpgOne of this seasons funky trends appears to be the 60’s inspired button jackets. They are quite literally popping up everywhere on the A-list scene. When it comes to fastenings this season, large is a must!!

From what I’ve seen I would go for giant sized buttons every time that are the same colour as the jacket. If you want to add the extra wow factor I would recommend big gold buttons to really make the jacket stand out. If you are on a budget after spending way too much in the sales then why not just update an old jacket by simply sewing on large buttons.

I think big button jackets look fab with most things whether your jacket is long or short but maybe think about cropped styles such as this red double breasted coat with jeans and fuller length with dresses. Dorothy Perkins has a great range of large buttoned jackets and most can be found at reduced prices. This red coat can be yours for £30.00 reduced from £40.00. Take a look online or in store.

All Things Original

Monday, January 7th, 2008

anythingoriginalpurse.jpgAll Thing Original is a fab new online shop that stocks a great selection of unique creative gifts from independent British designers and they cater for all budgets!! They have products from accessories to bags and knitwear to art & design - it’s a great collection.

Whilst browsing through the vast collection I found myself being drawn to this beautiful and delicate Apple Blossom purse priced £49.50. It’s a true representation of everything this site has to offer and it’s just up my street - I love it!! It’s elegantly made with a watercolour blossom motif printed on the front. The blossom also boasts satin stitch with beads that are embellished to the pattern. It also claims to be deceivingly spacious inside which is always a bonus for me - I’m forever trying to unsuccessfully jam everything into my tiny clutches, so the more space the better!!

I would recommend this site to anyone who loves original pieces. It will definitely be first port of call when I need to find a gift for someone special. Simply log on to www.allthingsoriginal.com and have a look for yourself.

Louboutin ‘It’ Shoe

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

itshoe.jpgFamous designer Christian Louboutin has found themselves in competition with the high street. The design based around their patent lace-ups is going down a treat on the street!!

I love this new look and think that lace-up shoes are a great alternative to ankle and shoe boots. If like me you’re a little conscious of your bigger calves, you will find the lace up design really flattering because they won’t cut your legs off. If you wanted to add some extra length then they would look stunning with black tights or skinny trousers.

You can also use the look to create a perfect rock chic trend - just add jeans and a leather bomber. If you’re more of a girly girl then these patents look just the ticket in a pretty frock. So to have the perfect comfort feeling all day, make sure you double bow them so you have the support to last all day and then in to the evening!!

My favourite pair of patent lace ups has to be these stunners from Miss Selfridge. They are just £35.00 and are everything you need to hit the town. They can be found in store or bought on line.
