Bye Bye BBC, Hello Five

neighbours.jpgYes the time has come for the BBC to say its farewells to Ramsey Street. As of Monday Feb 11th, the iconic Aussie Soap Neighbours, will be aired from Five.

I have been a massive fan of Neighbours since the day it began. It had become part of my daily routine so believe me just because it has moved to channel Five, it does not mean they lose my viewing – well as long as it doesn’t change time slots!! I imagine this will be the case for most fans.

It appears that the BBC announced its withdrawal from the contest to sign the show it had screened for 21 years due to enormous episode price rise s that producers FremantleMedia wanted. It’s been reported that the cost had risen from £25,000 to £100,000 per episode.

Neighbours has followed in the footsteps of fellow soap Home and Away by moving to Five, so it’s likely that Five will create a daily super-soap hour, running Neighbours back to back with Home and Away. Let the battle for Aussie soap supremacy commence!!
