It’s written by Kym Douglas who is a host of the upcoming Lifetime makeover show Queen and celebrity journalist Cindy Pearlman. These ladies had always wanted to know how the A-list stars looked so, well, A-list. It turns out that even the most carefully guarded stars were more than happy to tell all. This jam-packed inside look at the surprising beauty rituals of A-list stars serves as a funny yet fascinating wake-up call to the harsh reality of celebrity self-maintenance.

Just some of the juicy secrets you are likely to find out include Angelina Jolie creating her high-volume hair by applying baby powder to her hair, roots-to-ends, then blow drying it in, Cameron Diaz being so resourceful by using her lipstick of the evening for blush touch ups and would you believe that glamour girls such as Jessica Simpson spray hairspray to their roots and apply matching eye shadow to cover up the outgrown colour!!

Juicy Courture KnickersShopping for underwear is always a lot of fun. I am a massive Victoria’s Secret fan so when I visited the states I stocked up on some of the funky printed low rise hipster knickers they stock but now I’m going Juicy mad.

The cute set of three multicoloured boy short style knickers are comfortable and stylish, a great new addition to the underwear drawer. Each boy short comes packaged as a cupcake, with a ‘fun logo’ on both the front and backs of the pants and have a logo embossed elasticated waistband.

Get your self some comfy couture at Net-A-Porter costing £43 for the set of three pants.

Shrunken Blazers

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Topshop BlazerForget your long fitting winter blazer, this season is all about the cropped version in both length and arms.

To be able to pull this style off and be able to identify this trend, shape is the key!! The bottom of the jacket should sit a couple of inches lower than your waist and it’s probably best to steer clear of unflattering double-breasted cuts.

This great new spring style with look very stylish with simple jeans and a tee, however a coloured jacket would also look adorable over the bright spring outfits that appearing on the high street.

I have managed to locate this more classic looking cropped jacket available from Topshop. The great thing is that there’s not much chance of you mistaking it for a normal jacket as its actually called a shrunken blazer. It’s £50.00 and available on line or in store.

Orange Rules

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Orange ShoeIt appears the shade to be seen in at the moment is bright citrus orange and of course it’s the celebs that started the trend and have bought it to the high street - after all not much chance of them escaping paps in such a vibrant and bold colour.

As you can imagine, orange is by no means an easy colour to wear and pull off. I think the key here is to use the colour as a highlighting accessory in the form of a belt, bag or shoes. If you are brave enough to bear all and go for an orange frock then keep accessories to a minimum.

Whatever you do, do not wear this shade near any form heavily fake tanned skin - if you didn’t look like you had been tangoed before, you certainly will if this colour goes anywhere near you.

When searching the high street to see what orange goodies they had to offer, I came across these great shoes from www.brantano.co.uk. They are cheap as well at just £ 12.00 - perfect way to start my orange collection.

Rubis Swiss Tweeze Tweezers

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

tweezetweezers1.jpgThese tweeze tweezers have the best name ever, with Rubis being a Swiss company and the Swiss cheese connection in the design - I love it!!

These are state of the art when it comes in cosmetic tweezers and promise to produce the salon look every time. This slant-tip tweezer is likely to be the finest eyebrow-shaping tool available guaranteed to grab even the finest fuzz on the very first go. Unfortunately the cheese holes are not an added special effect, they quite literally are just holes - oh well I love the design anyway!!

This unique design does come at a price though, it would appear these beauties will set you back $29.95 when you buy them at Amazon, by far the most expensive tweezers ever!! Prices are around the same on most sites unfortunately.

Jo Malone Scented Candles

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

jo-malone-candels.jpgVisiting a friend’s house the other day led me to question the gorgeous aroma I could smell. The overpowering scent of nectarine infused her rooms so I had to ask where I could get my hands on something so strong.

She told me she got some Jo Malone candles which were £38 each but so worth every penny. They had lasted her quite a long time and she loves the fact that everyone who has entered her house has commented on them. With that I got myself one from the website. I bought the Nectarine Blossom & Honey candle but there are so many more scents to choose from including Blue Agava & Cacao, Grapefruit, Spring Jasmine and Vintage Gardenia.

Get yours from Jo Malone online.

A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila

Friday, January 18th, 2008

A new series is coming to MTV ONE that I can imagine will be very entertaining. Tila Tequila, a gorgeous young gal is looking for love in this new reality TV show called ‘A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila’.

The twist is that she’s actually bisexual and has to make her mind up whether she wants a hunky male or a sexy female. 32 potential love interests move in (16 male, 16 female) but they don’t know yet that their main competition could be the opposite sex!

The program starts Sunday January 20th on MTV ONE.

Bath and Unwind

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

burtsbees.jpgWell now xmas and new year are well and truly over its time to start thinking about the detox!!

I’ve recently been looking to change my skincare products but don’t want to splash out on a new full size product when I don’t even know if I will like it, or more importantly whether my skin will like it! Then right on this site I found the perfect solution, Burts Bees head to toe starter kit. It’s a US brand that focuses on all natural products so I’m bound to get along with it fine. It contains a selection of travel sized products including creams and cleansers so I can truly pamper myself. The best bit is that I can have it all for just £15.99.

Who said big can’t be beautiful??

pirouette-shoes.JPGThese new shoes created by French Sole are fab!!

For all us BFG’s (big footed girls) out there, our prayers have been answered. French Sole have created a new range - Pirouette and it is exclusively for sizes 9-11.

Finally I hear you all cry, a decent shoe range in extra sizes. For me, high street stores only seem to sell the worst looking shoes ever in bigger sizes and even then they don’t go past a nine. It’s about time someone thought of designing nice fashionable shoes for those of us who have not been blessed with an average size 6 foot.

You can check out what beauties they have to offer at www.pirouetteshoes.com where you can order a catalogue. The shoes are great, price not so great. You are looking at around £65 per pair. Perhaps one day my fellow BFG’s we will be able to have big cheap shoes - keep dreaming ay!!!

Big Up Buttons

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

buttoncoat1.jpgOne of this seasons funky trends appears to be the 60’s inspired button jackets. They are quite literally popping up everywhere on the A-list scene. When it comes to fastenings this season, large is a must!!

From what I’ve seen I would go for giant sized buttons every time that are the same colour as the jacket. If you want to add the extra wow factor I would recommend big gold buttons to really make the jacket stand out. If you are on a budget after spending way too much in the sales then why not just update an old jacket by simply sewing on large buttons.

I think big button jackets look fab with most things whether your jacket is long or short but maybe think about cropped styles such as this red double breasted coat with jeans and fuller length with dresses. Dorothy Perkins has a great range of large buttoned jackets and most can be found at reduced prices. This red coat can be yours for £30.00 reduced from £40.00. Take a look online or in store.

Atonement

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

atonement.jpgOne of the most anticipated films of 2007 and quite possibly one of the best, Atonement is due for release next month following its lengthy stint in the cinemas from September through to November 2007.

The film, adapted from Ian McEwan’s novel Atonement, stars, the stunning Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. Set in 1935, this war time, drama unfolds the story of a thirteen year old girl, her sister, the housekeeper’s son and the thirteen year old girl’s imagination.

The emotional, dramatic film has been critically acclaimed and is definitely worth a watch.
