If you want to jazz up your hair do and are bored of the same style day in day out then the high street return of the Alice band could be just what you’re looking for.
I think the last time I would of worn an Alice band is when I was about 7. I cant see the trend being a big hit with me but I have managed to find a few of these accessories that I consider to be wearable.
If you’re after something bold but quite plain patterned then you can find just the answer at Aldo. Its just £4.99, comes in black or brown and would certainly assist in creating a fab and smart work outfit.
With Alice bands, you just know there is always going to be a very girly option out there and I think Dorothy Perkins have created this subtle and pretty band with the more princess wannabe in mind! For just £5 either on line or in store you can add sparkly crystal hearts to brighten up your look.

After a long time out of the limelight the beautiful Kylie Minogue is back with a hot brand new single and a fantastic brand new album to follow. The pop princess’s new single ‘2 Hearts’ is a catchy, edgy pop tune with a sexy video of Kylie singing on stage to accompany it.
The ‘2 Hearts’ music video, that is currently hogging much of the music channels airtime is available on iTunes now for £1.89 and the single is due to be released on the 5th of November digitally and 12th of November commercially. The brand new, much anticipated album ‘X’ is released on the 26th of November and is currently available to pre-order from Amazon for £8.98 with free delivery.
I have been a customer of 3 Mobile for many years now, at first I joined because they had the cheapest deals available and I was a poor student! Over the years they have continued to offer me great deals and even though I haven’t been overly impressed with their customer service team I have been a loyal customer pretty much since they launched.
I was therefore very excited today when I heard about the new Skype Phone technology they have developed. The new phone allows users to make free calls via Skype on their mobiles to anyone in the world, even customers on pay-as-you-go can benefit from the service as long as they top up a minimum of £10 per month.
If only their customer service skills were as impressive as their products, they’d probably take over the mobile world!!

Its always welcoming when your friends and family make an effort to decorate their home. Being at university my friends usually put their energy into decorating their bedrooms and the amount of cute cushions I have seen recently is ongoing… I really appreciate the beauty of cushions and how they can make a bland room look beautiful.
Laura Ashley has some fabulous cushions and with a sale on at the moment it’s the best time to invest. This Embroidered Cushion, now £15 down from £30 in burgundy is pretty and would look wonderful with deep coloured room décor such as midnight blues and purples. Or perhaps for lighter coloured bedroom décor this Square Damask Cushion costing £10.80 down from £30 would be better suited in cream.
I’ve fallen back in love with pop music so I’m afraid you are going to have to listen to me rave about the latest chart hits on this blog for a while, as well as how fit Mark Ronson is! My absolute favourite track at the moment is Freemason’s cover of Alanis Morrisette’s little known song Uninvited. The original track can be found on Alanis’s MTV Unplugged Live CD and is an amazing song. Hopefully this cover will bring it the recognition it deserves. The lyrics which are about reservations we all feel about letting ourselves succumb to a new admirer are what make this song, but the music is also very dark and powerful.
The Freemasons remix retains all the moody harmonies while giving the song new impetus with a sexy driving beat. Bailey Tzuke has replaced Alanis’s on this cover. She has been hailed as the new joss stone and is usually found playing folksy keyboard music and supporting Rufus Wainwright. Her voice is more pretty and girly than Alanis’s which helps the transition of this cover into the typical dance genre. I think this is a really successful remix and is bound to be one of the dance anthems of the year.
Kylie is back and better than ever before. Her new single 2 Hearts is released on Paralphone on the 5th Nov and takes Kylie in a slightly new direction. Her new album still retains a dance feel but with a new electro vibe. The 2 Hearts single has been compared to recent Goldfrapp releases but this track has a darker gothic feeling to it.
The electro four piece band who work with kylie on this single are UK based Kish Mauve. They look amazing in Goth transvestite gear. I love the way the pianist flings away his chair and plays the piano standing up whilst head banging for the rest of the song. Kylie of course also looks fantastic, especially in the all in one cat-suit. I love her debauched semi-sober style in this video. This song really brings out the Goth in me.
This year I’m feeling lazy and I’d just really like to spend my Halloween in front of the TV with my best friends and a scary film. But there is a problem with this, as I don’t seem to find horror films at all frightening anymore. I know in the back of my mind that they are only a story and I just don’t think watching one will have the desired effect this Halloween.
A couple of years ago I used to be addicted to watching Most Haunted – the show were Yvette Fielding and a team of ghost hunters spend the night in the spookiest houses in Britain in search of evidence of ghosts. The team usually experience some mysterious bumps and noises and sometimes even witness unexplained moving objects and light anomalies. For some reason I can’t help thinking that this is somehow more realistic than watching a horror film and I actually get really scared watching it. I know the ghostly manifestations are probably hoaxed but this time in the back of my mind is the thought that they might not actually be fake. Also the fact that the whole thing is filmed in ‘Blair Witch’ documentary style and there are scientific experts on the team make the whole thing almost believable.
If you also fancy something a bit different to watching the Scream trilogy this Halloween tune into Living TV on Oct 27th - Oct 31st to catch the five day Most Haunted Live Halloween event where the team will be investigation ghostly goings on at Tatton Park in Cheshire.
Dirty Dancing, well what can I say its by far the BEST movie ever. I have watched it countless times for as long as I can remember as well as seeing the hit musical west end show and of course knowing all the lyrics to every song in the film - definitely one of the biggest fans!
So what better way to celebrate its 20th anniversary by releasing the Ultimate Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Hear all your favourite classics for the first time ever on one CD with the added bonus of them being sequenced in the order that they appear in the film. So now just by listening to the soundtrack you can remember each scene - I love it!!
Not only is there this classic Ultimate edition soundtrack but there is also a new DVD available to accompany the collection that has some fab extra features including an exclusive interview with Patrick Swayze to keep the Dirty Dancing fever alive!
Both the soundtrack and DVD can be bought on line at Amazon.co.uk. The soundtrack can be found for £6.48 and the DVD for just £12.98 or if you buy both items together then Amazon have a set price of £19.46. So are you ready for the time of your life??
We all love a good bargain, so this on line store www.hqoutletstore.com that provides a huge selection of name brands at an amazing reduced rate is probably a girls idea of heaven!
They have everything from Christmas gift ideas and skincare to jewellery and men’s fashion, there really is a huge range of bargains to search through. Its all surplus stock, end of line ranges and past seasons items that are available with superb deals.
I think the best bargain I managed to find on this site is these Diesel Hipper Jeans. I have never managed to bring myself to part with the hundreds of £’s that Diesel normally demand but £29.99 I’m definitely willing to pay, which is how much you can pick a pair up for - that’s a whopping 73% discount as they normally retail at £115.
I will also now be buying one of my favourite beauty products - YSL Touche Eclat from this site only as they are charging a mere £17.95 compared to the normal £24. I would be be crazy not too!!!
With Christmas getting closer and purse strings pulling tighter, I would recommend everyone visiting this site and with savings like these you never know you might find yourself having some spare cash to hit the new year sales - everyone’s a winner!
I love clip up coin purses simply because they are nice and easy to carry around and given the right design, can be used as a great bag substitute if you’re travelling light!
So when I found these coin purses from www.brittique.com, I instantly fell in love with them. They are made to such a high quality and have fun and quirky but yet classy designs and all for just £15.
They really look like something you would stumble across in an upmarket vintage store, but why hunt around the shops when you can sit back and buy such retro styles on the net. The whole site is full of individual accessories and designer clothes. There is something for everyone’s budget so I highly recommend taking a look!
I have to have my eye lashes long so I am forever trying to find the best black mascara available and I think I have found it. After one too many tried and tested experiments I am happy to say I have some worthy results.
Clinique’s High Definition Lashes mascara is heaven sent. The simultaneous brush and comb stick work together to lengthen and separate lashes to bring out their full potential. The mascara is available in either black or black/brown and costs £12.50, available from the Clinique website.
MAC also stock a great lash lengthening mascara, called Fibre Rich Lash which defines and thickens lashes. The mascara comes in all black and whole brown, priced at £10, available from the MAC website.
Unable to afford that dream designer bag, the Balenciaga City, the Chloe Paddington, the Mulberry Bayswater or whatever takes your fancy? Hire it from as little as £5 per week at Handbag Hire HQ.
The company has a huge range of the most coveted ‘it’ bags in the fashion industry and are catering for the fashion savvy who cannot afford to blow a months wage on a bag. To make use of this service you must become a member at which the cost is £7.50 per month and then you can rent whatever you wish. The smaller designer bags start at £5 per week and can range up to £30 or more for the most wanted ‘it’ bag of the season.
My favourite, the Balenciaga city bag in rubino is currently £90 to hire for a month and £30 to hire for a week.
Visit www.handbaghirehq.com for more information and rent that bag for a week or a month.
