Picnic Valise For 2

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Picnic Valise For 2This week we’ve finally been having some sunshine to enjoy and I for one am making the most of it. In true British style I’ve been rolling up my trousers and baring my white legs as soon as the sun pops out from behind the clouds. I’m staying optimistic that the suns going to be around for the next few weeks so when I came across this Picnic Valise I just had to get it.

This weekend I plan to pack up a picnic, head off to the coast and enjoy a relaxing day in the warm sun. The best bit… I don’t have to worry about planning everything I’ll need for my picnic – I can just slide this picnic set into my car and head off early to miss the thousands of other motorists with the same idea.

Packed with two dinner plates, two bowls, two tumblers, two mugs, two sets of knives and forks, two teaspoons, two napkins and a dirty plates bag … what else could you need? Apart from a corkscrew perhaps?! Prepare the food the night before and you’ll be good to go. For only £24.95 this has to be an essential summer item.

Personalised Laptop Lids

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

getimage.jpgLong gone are the days when we carried a picture of our loved ones or our favourite pet in our wallet or in a locket around our neck. The mobile phone quickly became the most logical way to carry our photographic mementos around with us. A flick through the pictures folder during a boring lunch hour could brighten up our day; a personal moment – reminding us what it’s like to be at home with the man of our dreams or in Ibiza sipping cocktails till dusk.

But suddenly we wanted everyone to know what our boyfriend/kid/dog/us and our mates at a party looks like!! First came the picture t-shirts, thankfully these didn’t really catch on due to the fact that a printed square photo on a cheap white t-shirt might look highly individual but never stylish. Then the personalised photo hand bags and wallets arrived in droves. Every other woman on the tube had an oversized leather-strapped handbag proudly displaying their adorable gappy toothed three year old. The craze for these “brag-bags” has finally subsided.

But just when you thought you could put down the sick bucket Toshiba launch the Personalised laptop. You can now get the picture of your choice printed on the lid of your laptop. I’m sure Toshiba envisaged us all walking the streets with serene scenes of Windows screen-saver type images of sunsets and Stonehenge on our laptop but something tells me I’m going to spend my train journey staring at a picture of a 45 year old sales manager’s hen-night memento as she does her spreadsheets.

oli.gifIf you’re a big brother addict you’ve probably noticed the TV commercials for the brand new clothing catalogue called Oli. The Oli company have merged household names Freemans and Grattan to make the UK fashion branch of the German Otto Group. Their new range of “designer - high street” clothing looks set to take over the internet and become the biggest online clothing outlet beating the likes of la Redoute, and Net a Porter. The range features designs from renowned fashion designers such Maria Grachvogel, - who’s red carpet pieces have been worn by Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham and Anne-Sofie Back who recently designed a best selling range for Top Shop. There are also ranges by stunning supermodels Jodie Kidd and Jasmine Guinness.

The website allows you to create your own look-book to help you visualise your perfect wardrobe and you can watch interviews with the designers for extra style inspiration. For those of you that prefer to browse the collection lying on the sofa with a cup of tea you can pick up a hard copy of the catalogue from boots or by ordering it from the website.
