I have always been a huge fan of Gillian McKeith’s program ‘You Are What You Eat’ and now she is back on our screens to help more victims of obesity and over indulgence. When I realised my usual Tuesday night comfort TV show ‘How To Look Good Naked’ had come to the end of the series I was devastated, but I felt better once I found out Gillian was replacing it with her new program ‘Three Fat Brides, One Thin Dress’.
I have just watched the first episode and am hooked already, as you’ve probably guessed from the title, Gillian chooses three overweight brides-to-be and helps them loose weight for their special day. The lady that works the hardest and achieves the best results walks away with a dream wedding dress.
The program is very similar to You Are What You Eat, she lays out their food in front of them and helps them realise what they’re doing to their bodies. This weeks winner Jacqueline lost an amazing 10 inches off her waist after following Gillian’s healthy eating and excercise plan.
‘Three Fat Brides, One Thin Dress’ will now be on Tuesday evenings at 8 o’clock. Check out the Channel 4 website for Gillian’s tips and more information about the program.
Paris was sentenced to 45 days in a Los Angeles prison but has been released early due to good behaviour and crowded conditions. She has only served 24 days for violating probation of her driving ban and was this morning reunited with her family.
Apparently reporters have been camped outside since Monday waiting for her to come out. As she left the detention centre she smiled and waved to the press giving them the pictures they’d been waiting for.
She is due to appear on CNN’s Larry King Show tomorrow evening for her first official interview about the experience. Below is some clips of her jail experience, more information about the release over at BBC News.
Get onto the Marie Claire Website and try out the virtual model to see what the summer styles will look like on you. Without too much adjusting you should be able to make the preset models look fairly like you. Alternatively you can see what you would look like if you were 5’10 100 pounds, which is also quite interesting!
Once you have got the body and face just right you can choose from a number of outfits to try on and get a good idea of what they might look like on you. I have learnt that that the style of jacket shown in my picture will make me look boxy when worn with a clingy skirt – good to know.
A cup of tea in three seconds! This kettle is genius. Not only does it deliver you with hot water super quick but its good for the environment too! It works a bit like most modern home water boilers where you don’t need to wait half an hour for enough water to heat to a bath. You can just turn on the tap and there is hot water as if by magic because they heat the water immediately and only the amount you are using. Of course heating only the water you need, saves lots of energy and time. Whoever realised this concept was a good idea for use in a kettle obviously likes tea as much is me.
The only snag is that it heats the water to just below boiling. Some tea fanatics in search of the perfect cup might have an issue with this. I’ve never really understood this because as soon as the switch flicks on the kettle the tea is less than boiling so by the time its hits the tea bag is its not boiling anyway but who am I to argue. The kettle launches in the beginning of July and will available in most high street homeware shops so look out for it! It’s going to cost around £60 but promises to cut £30 from your yearly electricity bill so is well worth the extra money.
Hooray, Faith is having a half price sale on selected lines and I like the majority of shoes on offer. These three are my favourites, the first two pairs are reduced from £45 to £25 and the shoe to the very right is reduced from £40 to £20 – bargain.
Check out the Faith Website for all styles in the Summer Sale.
DIY is great. I’ve never been much more adventurous than sanding my floorboards but I love thinking about the DIY projects I’d like to do in my house. Yesterday I put up a bookcase in record time and was really chuffed with it until it started swaying from side to side – now its a case of death by dictionary waiting to happen. I’m not really sure how to fix it but I think it might have something to do with the fact that the screwdriver I was trying to use was two sizes to big.
My first plan of action was to buy myself some decent tools from B&Q to show that bookcase I mean business….But as I was browsing the web I got distracted by the not so sensible option – a cute pink tool set which kinda looks like a children’s toy! Its got some good tools though. I think its just what I need for the small jobs around the house and there’s plenty of space to add more pink tools to it. I just can’t bring myself to spend fifty pounds on proper tool kit that doesn’t look good so this is definitely where my money is going. I might just have to put a warning sign up next to that bookcase instead. If you want one too go to Gadget Storm where it costs only £30 - apparently a £10 pounds saving on buying all those tools seperately!

You’ll probably forgive me for wondering who in the world would buy a hand-knitted 100% cotton jacket for their apple? But then I gave it some thought … I bring an apple to work every day and toss it in my bag without any care. When I come to eat it I often find it battered and bruised and therefore not what I’d call appealing. So imagine wrapping it up in its own little clothes to protect it– yes it might sound crazy to some but I’m now fully supporting apple jackets!
The design includes a cute yellow button and a green knitted leaf – how adorable! The designer, Jacqueline Dufresne, is from Canada - although it looks as though the website can ship internationally if you want to get one of these. The jacket’s also available in four different colours: pink, bright blue, white and off-white. What a fun little gift this would make too!
Leading car insurers Sheila’s Wheels well known for targeting their products at women have now launched Sheila’s Heels, a ladies driving shoe. The shoes are black with a pink stripe at the back and they go from heels to flats at the push of a button. I think it’s a genius idea; I take off my heels when I’m driving and it’s a nuisance taking them on and off all the time. Also sometimes my feet end up dirtier if I’m not wearing tights.
Not only is it the ultimate driving shoe, it’s stylish too - I’d definitely get a pair. No news on how much the shoes are going to cost yet, leave a comment if you find out before us.
These ultra-feminine, elegant metallic bronze sandals are sure to make you stand out at a special event or occasion. They are slingback stilettos made from leather, softly coated in black lace. Imagine them with a knee length black dress, black clutch bag and even a graceful hat; a great outfit for the Royal Ascot races taking place this week as well.
The shoes made by Quai D’Orsay will set you back £175.82 but in my opinion they are totally worth it, they are available at Forzieri in sizes 2 to 7.
Whenever I take a good set of photographs on my digital camera I always seem to misplace the lead that transfers the images to my PC. By the time I’ve found it, the pictures have either been replaced or wiped and I never seem to get any prints for the album! If you have the same problem then you will probably also be interested to hear that a new Wi-Fi digi cam memory card is being developed. It is known as the Eye-Fi and it aims to cut out the complex stages of transferring images using a cable or card reader. It will therefore mean you can upload the pictures to any computer and start printing or sharing immediately.
The SD memory card is expected to be launched by the end of the year and will hold 2-gig of memory as well as the wireless functionality. You are looking at about £50 for the card and remember to make sure your digital camera supports SD otherwise the card wont fit! More information can be found on the Eye-Fi Website.
Shabnam has been evicted, four new men have entered the house, what a week it has been for the Big Brother housemates.
Firstly let’s talk about Shabnam’s eviction, I personally haven’t been a fan of Shabs since she entered the house, all she seemed to do was follow Charley round like a lost lamb, keep people awake at night and look at herself in the mirror. Despite this, I did feel sorry for her when she walked out of the house – it was the most cringe worthy eviction I have ever seen on Big Brother. I have taken the liberty of pasting the clip below in case you missed the event.
We know Shabs likes performing but this was the worst eviction dance ever! She obviously didn’t know how to handle to crowds booing so she went into show mode and did a little dance to try and win them round, Davina had to literally drag her off the stage, it was quite funny but I did feel sorry for her.
We finally have some to men in the house, hopefully some of the attention will be taken off Charley and her arguments so we can watch other footage. All the new men seem really cool but we’ll see if their personalities unfold throughout the week. I think poor Ziggy was a tad jealous and he got a bit insecure on Saturday asking Channelle if she still liked him etc.
Favourite housemates: Carole, Sam, Amanda, Gerry and Brian
Reasons: They are all in the house to learn about other people, have fun and they help out around the house.
Worst housemates: Charley and Nicky
Reasons: Charley cannot hold a conversation without it turning into a heated argument, she has mentioned too many times that everyone is jealous of her because she has the most clothes and shoes – nobody cares. Nicky cannot hold a conversation without whining but I think she’s getting better so she may be out of my bottom two next week.
I predict that Charley, Seany and Laura will be up for eviction this week.
After a hard week what could be better than getting home, putting your feet up and enjoying a nice glass of wine? Well… wrapping your feet in these Feet Treat wraps while you enjoy your wine! They’re designed to be used warm or cold depending on your needs - so if your feet are aching and tense the heat of a warm wrap will help ease them, or if your feet are puffy the coolness of a chilled wrap will leave them feeling soothed.
After a full day shopping or a night out dancing, these wraps are perfect to come home to. You simply need to pop them in the fridge to enjoy them cool, or place them in warm water to enjoy them heated. Make sure you put your feet up and relax while you’re wearing these though – they weren’t designed to take full body weight! Sounds like a good enough excuse to me …
