Healthy '07 Tips From Cosmo

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Healthy New YearIf you’re like me and the enthusiasm for making the New Year a healthy, fitness packed one has well and truly disappeared then Cosmopolitan have 7 Skinny ’07 Habits To Try. From running before breakfast to only drinking on Wednesdays and weekends, these great tips will give u a new found eagerness to restart your plans for a healthy new year.

My favourite tip has to be ‘Forget the Lost double bill’ – apparently the only two activities that burn fewer calories than watching TV are sleeping and being dead! I don’t know about you but this is one tip I know I won’t be able to stick to! The new series of Lost is far too important in my life!

Sequin Sash Tie Dress

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Sequin Sash Tie DressThis sequin sash tie dress is perfect for a night out somewhere glam. With some towering stilettos and a clutch bag this outfit is bound to get you noticed. I love the sequin embellished material and wide flared sleeves – and the silky sash around the waist finishes the look off perfectly.

You could even team it with some jeans and high shoes for a more casual look, the dress could easily be transformed into a long top. Jessica Simpson pulls this look off well, and casual boots really make the outfit suitable for wearing in the day too – a perfect item to have in your wardrobe this spring, and for only £45 I think it’s a bit of a bargain!

Nokia L’Amour 7373 Special Edition

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Nokia L'Amour 7373 Special EditionThis is a girly girls phone if ever I saw one… I love it! The Nokia L’Amour 7373 Special Edition is based on the L’Amour Collection, but has had been beautified by fashion designer Giambattista Valli. He’s added slinky extras, such as a pearl strap and a miniature skull motif, to an already pretty pink phone to make it all the more desirable.

The Nokia 7373 Special Edition phone will be revealed at Paris Fashion Week and will come loaded with behind-the-scenes video footage of Valli, an exclusive ringtone and designer graphics. Although it’s not available yet, I’m pretty sure women everywhere will want to get their hands on this once it is (it’s rumoured to be available in selected European markets during March).

Magical New Mascara?

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Magic Wand Brushless Mascara from Bare EscentualsI haven’t actually tried this product yet so I can’t really comment on how effective it is, but I’d love to hear from you if you’ve given it a go – I’m always a bit wary of things like this and can’t imagine how coating your eyes with a brushless stick would work? But maybe it’s just me being overly sceptical, I’m going to buy it anyway just because I’m intrigued!

The Magic Wand Brushless Mascara from Bare Escentuals has a design that allows you to individually coat each lash at a time, which apparently gives fuller, longer lasting lashes – perhaps all mascaras will start coming with brushless sticks … maybe it’s the design of the future?

The mascara is available for £18.00 from lookfantastic.

New Hottest Handbags

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Ramona bag by Jimmy ChooI love it when the seasons change – it’s a great excuse to dream about a brand spanking new wardrobe. Well maybe not a whole new wardrobe (if I was rich then that’s how I’d spend my mon), but some new clothes, shoes and handbags are how I like to treat myself to a new season. So I have to admit that I’m more of a high street girl than a designer one, but I do like to keep my eye on what’s hot in case I’m lucky enough to be rich one day …

This Ramona bag by Jimmy Choo is beautiful, although I can’t decide if I prefer it in red or not? At £1,100 I don’t think it’ll be hanging off of my shoulder anytime soon but ooh if I was rich it would. To view the top 40 latest, hottest bags check out – or if you realise you really shouldn’t spend that much money on a bag then take a look at the high street bags – there’s some pretty great choice.

It’s Pankcake Day

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

PankcakesI don’t know about you but I seem to miss Pancake Day every year and usually end up having them the day after. Well not this year because in case you didn’t know it’s Pancake Day today. I admit that I did actually have some pancakes last Tuesday by accident but never mind I can have them again tonight.

My favourite recipe has to be lemon, sugar and chocolate ice cream, this reminds me of when I go skiing in France and we stop off for a crepe. Let me know your favourite dishes so we can get some ideas for tonight.

If you’re unsure how to make pancakes there’s a great basic recipe for lemon and sugar pancakes at the BBC Food website.

Tape Dispenser With Ports Hub

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Tape Dispenser With Ports HubIt’s pretty normal to find a sellotape dispenser or a USB hub lying around the office so the person responsible for combining the two is no less than a genius – we all use sellotape and most of us could do with a few extra USB ports after all.

The Tape Dispenser With Ports Hub was actually created by Earth-Trek, a company based in Hong Kong and is available in a variety of colours (although this funky red, green, yellow and grey has to be my favourite). You can also put your own company’s logo onto it, which I must admit I’m pretty impressed with!

Your Own Private Spa…

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Spa LightsI’ve always been more of a bath than shower girl so these Spa Lights would be perfect for me. I can just imagine cracking open a bottle of wine, turning on some music and relaxing for hours in my own private little spa … heaven.

These waterproof Spa Lights can stick to the bottom and sides of your bath or shower, or just float in the water like candles. There is a choice of Original lights (which glow yellow) or the new Colour Phasing lights (which softly change colour from red, green, blue, pink and yellow). The Spa Lights are available as a pack of 2 or 6 and one set of batteries will keep them glowing for 120 hours – that’s 5 solid days of luxury.

Pink PC Kit

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Pink PC KitI had to write about this when I saw it … just because it’s pink! I also think it would make a cute little pressie for a geeky computer mate and brighten up her dull office desk. Plus the freedom of having a wireless mouse makes life so much easier – no longer will the twisted cable get caught in all the desk junk or tie itself in knots every afternoon when it’s time to leave.

The Pink PC Kit is available from Find Me A Gift for £17.99, and if you’re not impressed with this then they have loads of other pink gifts such as the pink toolbox, the pink car kit and the pink gym kit. If you love pink, you’ll love these gifts!

Tootsie Warmers

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

USB Foot WarmersI know there are loads of USB gadgets out there (cup warmers, fans, massagers etc etc), but on a cold winters day like today I think these USB foot warmers deserve a mention. Imagine getting to your office, kicking off your stilettos and sliding your chilly feet into these snug foot warmers – they would definitely make working feel more relaxed and give your feet some TLC.

The slippers are kept warm through a heat panel under the lining of the base – as soon as the warmers are plugged into a USB port the panel will heat up to a comfy temperature and remain that warm until unplugged. The panel can be removed when you need to wash your warmers. They look so warm and soft … I’ll definitely be getting me a pair of these!
