Nintendo Wii Frenzy

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Nintendo WiiAs predicted, the Nintendo Wii came in and went straight back out of shops within hours. The popular toy is currently sold out everywhere in the UK and even online causing a frenzy as everyone tries to snap one up for Christmas. Even pre-ordered Wii’s were unavailable due to lack of supply compared to the demand.

If you are lucky enough to have obtained a Nintendo Wii, you are one of the few people in the UK who either got in early or gave in to an overpriced ebay seller. I have been keeping a close eye on both Amazon.co.uk and Argos.co.uk to try and nab one when a few appear for sale. Let me know if you have managed to get your Wii in time for Christmas and how you did it.

Canon MV901 lightweight Digital Camcorder

Friday, December 15th, 2006

Canon Digital CamcorderWhile looking for a Christmas pressie for my boyfriend, I came across this video camera on the Curry’s website and thought what a great idea. We’re off to France skiing soon so I thought this would be a perfect gift for him. Not only does it have a 25x optical zoom (800x digital zoom), widescreen recording and a 2.7” wide LCD screen, it only costs £179 which personally I think is a bargain.

The camera is lightweight and compact so suitable if you are moving around a lot like we will be. The large viewfinder means you can set up the shot first and even film while skiing or snowboarding. The camcorder also has a great image stabilisation function to assist with shaky footage. See the Curry’s Website for further information.

ASOS 60's Print DressMonochrome is a key look this winter, so if you want to dress to impress this 60’s Print Dress should do the trick. Dress it with some sexy platforms and some funky beads for a night out on the town, or dress it down with this season’s flat boots for a more casual day look.

Sony Ericsson K750i O2 Mobile only £95

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Sony Ericsson K750iThe new Sony Ericsson K750i can now be bought for just £95 through O2, Orange or Vodaphone at lxdirect.com. The mobile phone originally cost £169.99 but has been reduced dramatically just before the Christmas period. The phone consists of a 2.0-megapixel camera with 4x zoom, autofocus and photo light. I have the K800i which isn’t as good as the K750i but it’s still an excellent mobile phone and I find it really easy to use.

The mobile comes with image management software for your PC allowing you to keep up to date with your photographs and arrange them into albums, an advanced digital music player and an integrated FM radio, 38Mb built in memory plus a 64Mb memory stick is included, Bluetooth and all the standard features you expect from a mobile phone.

With high quality photographs and videos, an integrated media player, GPRS and all the messaging and Internet connectivity you can imagine, the K750i is the perfect gadget to keep in your pocket.

James Bond Casino Royale

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Having never seen a James Bond film in my life I reluctantly went off to the cinema with my boyfriend to watch Casino Royale. I really didn’t think I’d like it and even bribed him into buying me dinner if I went with him. To my surprise I rather enjoyed it – it wasn’t just the load of action packed scenes I had imagined. Although there were many action scenes, I loved the storyline; it was well planned and exciting and completely exceeded my expectations of the film.

The fantastic cast consisting of Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench and the stunning Eva Green were great to watch and the end really surprised me. A clever twist that I hadn’t seen coming made the film that little bit more intense and memorable. I am now planning to watch the series of James Bond films from start to finish when I find a spare few weeks.

Stripes = fashion

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

This year we have seen stripes everywhere – on the catwalks, on the high streets and even celebs are incorporating them into their daily style. Stripy tops are particularly popular and if you find a style that suits you you’re onto a winner. The only problem is that we are not all a size 8 or 10 and horizontal stripes tend to give the body a wider appearance. For this reason I have stuck to black and grey stripes because the dark colours hide the curves and bumps yet you still have the striped effect. You could try vertical stripes, these are even better if you are a larger size as they make your figure appear a lot narrower, however it’s the horizontal stripes that are the height of fashion at the moment.

Ashley Simpson is wearing a rounded neck, ¾ length sleeve, long black and white stripy top over a simple pair of grey skinny jeans. She finishes her look with a cute pair of rounded black shoes and a neck scarf to break up the repetitive striped pattern. To check out stripy styles visit Glam.com and their section on ‘celebs in striped tops’.
