Mango Winter Coat

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Mango Winter CoatThis year I decided on a long winter coat and while searching I came across this fab little number on Mango’s website. It jumped out at me as if it was made especially for me!

The style is flattering and I love the belt across the waist and the simple buttons. The neck sits really well across the chest and is wide enough to reveal what you have on underneath and show off any jewellery. Cream is a great colour to go for in a winter jacket too – it goes with pretty much everything and is much cheerier than black. The only problem is it will get dirty very easily.

Available for £110 from Mango.

Life-size Scrabble!

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Life-size ScrabbleI think this is a bizarre but fantastic design! The seating is based on the popular board game Scrabble and is actually installed in the London Offices of Bloomsberg Financial Services.

Those waiting in the seating area can make words and leave messages with the printed letter cushions … I wonder if they actually use these cushions and if they only ever make polite words?! Check out the designer’s other ideas

Bright lips on the catwalk

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Red LipstickIt seems that colourful lips are appearing on the catwalk – red lips have been popular for many years and this season is no exception, but colours have become more comlex with tangerine, berry wine and black grape making appearances.

Anna Sui wore a super-glossy fuchsia pink shade for the coming season, and check out the other models over on Lips are smudgy, bold, transparent and beautifully colourful!

Illuminated Pillows

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Illuminated PillowsWhen I first saw these illuminated pillows I wasn’t overly impressed and wondered just how practical they would be. Then I began to look at them properly and thought how amazing they’d look decorating your garden on a dark evening – for a garden party this autumn these illuminated pillows will add a touch of magic. You can just imagine them brightening up your chairs and think how impressed your guests will be!

A light emitting fabric that blends optical fiber with other fibers is connected to a light source and then activated by a battery or direct current – the result is a magical, arty effect. They’re pretty expensive at $499.99, but I guess if you’re the kind of person that has garden parties all year round, you can probably afford it!

USB MassagerIf you’re like me and spend a huge percentage of your life sitting in front of a computer screen then this little gadget should bring a smile to your face. Simply plug this massager into your PC’s USB port, switch it on and ease those aches and pains.

Keep it in your drawer for a particularly stressful day and you’ll be glad of it – for only £8.99 this is a must have. It also comes with a lengthy 6ft of cable so if you’re feeling generous you could even try out it out on a colleague …

The Fluidity Bar

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Fluidity BarI came across this product on and thought it was quite a cool fitness idea. The Fluidity Bar is designed to work to whole body and give you the perfect shape you’ve always dreamed of. The bar has been a popular item in premier health clubs in New York for some time and now they are making them available to the public for $199.75.

The price a little dear but a good machine to have at home; it folds away easily so you don’t have to worry about storage space. Check out the Fluidity Bar video to see it in action.

Have I got a deal for you?

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Health ClubsIf you fancy a membership at either Holmes Place or Cannons but think their prices are a little too much then I have a solution. While searching for a cheap local gym at the weekend I came across an article on Money Saving Expert that made my smile from ear to ear. Basically, if you sign up to Pru Health and take out some health insurance for a year they will pay for your membership at Holmes Place or Cannons for six months. After this period you have to pay the gym £25 a month on top of your health insurance however if you don’t wish to do this then you can simply cancel the gym membership after the six months.

The cost of health insurance with Pru Health cost me £18.32 a month, the cost of a membership with Holmes Place is £64 a month. I am therefore saving myself about £280 based on the fact I will only stay for the free six months. You have to sign up before 31st October to be eligable – visit the Pru Health Website for full information about the deal.
