Are you a fontaholic?

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Urban FontsI love it when I come across new words and ‘fontaholic’ has a great ring to it! For all you web geeks out there I have just stumbled across a great site where you can download free fonts and free dingbats.

There are over 8000 available for easy download in PC or MAC formats. This a picture alphabet is my personal favourite, but the hair of the dog comes a pretty close second! Let me know what you think …

Noise Cancelling MP3 Player NW-S703F

Monday, October 30th, 2006

NW-S703K pinkSony has now launched an MP3 player that includes noise cancelling headphones so you won’t be disrupted even if you are in a busy, loud environment. The NW-S703 allows you to listen to your tunes in peace without the annoying sounds of building work or trains etc taking over the music track - what a brilliant invention. Not only does it have this fantastic feature but it looks stylish too, especially in pink.

The MP3 player stores up to 685 songs in the 1GB built in memory so you can always have a song to suit your mood. However, if that’s not enough there’s also an integrated FM radio that allows you to pre-set your favourite stations. The gadget is currently selling in pink, violet and black for between $170 and $200 which isn’t bad for such a handy little toy. See the Sony Style website for more info about features and specifications.

Free Health Product Samples

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Like the majority of people I find that when I eat healthily I feel so much better in myself and don’t feel as guilty in the morning if I was good the day before. I always search the net for health and diet websites in need of a little motivation to continue my healthy eating habits and there are lots of helpful websites out there.

I came across a website earlier that gives you free product samples of healthy stuff if you sign up to their site and become a member. The samples include products such as Welch’s Fruit Snacks, Kleenex, NeoSporin, Bounce Fabric Softener, Tylenol, Centrum, Acuvue, Nature Made, Planters Peanuts, Banana Boat Sun Screen, Kraft Dressing, Purell and many more. The site is called Free Healthy Stuff and is definitely worth a look if you get a spare minute.

The website also contains information on sleeping aids, diet & weight management products, pregnancy, vitamins, natural supplements and healthy food and drink snacks. I signed up this morning and am looking forward to my first samples arriving. I think this is a great idea and will introduce me to items I haven’t used or tasted before. All you have to do is enter a few of your details!

Faith Ressey Boots

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Faith BootsWhen I was younger I used to take days deciding whether I liked something or not. Now though, when I see something I like, I know straight away… like these amazing boots from Faith. They’re new in so you better get in fast if you want a pair – I can’t imagine many pairs being left on the shelf.

The website claims they’re black, but they look chocolate brown to me? Whatever colour, the style is amazing. I love the buckle around the ankle, the high heel and the turn down at the top. These would look stunning with a pencil skirt – they would really finish off a winter outfit. Priced at £85, I think they’re a great buy.

Pink Bendy Keyboard

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Pink bendy keyboardI can’t believe I’m sitting here typing on a boring black keyboard when this bubblegum pink, flexible Bendiboard is available – why did nobody tell me about this sooner? Plus it’s waterproof, so I wouldn’t have to worry about any spillages, crumbs or annoying clumps of dust between the letters.

It gets even better though – you can actually roll it up and pop it in your bag to use with your laptop, and it’s more comfortable to type on than traditional hard, plastic keyboards. Available for £29.99 – I can’t believe I’ve managed to cope this long without it!

Fashion Boots from Dune

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Grey Dune BootThese boots are a must have style this season. In my opinion they look strange if worn with a skirt or dress but apparently that is how they should be worn and how they look their best. The boots are both in celebrity wardrobes and high street shops, this particular pair from Dune caught my eye and I have considered buying.

I like the shape, colour and material of this boot but I think I am more likely to wear them with a pair of jeans than a dainty dress. I saw Grace from Big Brother wearing a similar pair with a green dress a while ago and I think that’s why I have been put off wearing them with anything but trousers! These are £60 from Dune.

New Job Search Website

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Uk Job SearchI came across a new website this week after a friend asked me to check out part time cleaning jobs on the Internet. My initial thought was to visit the Job Centre website but I found their online structure confusing due to too many options and too many questions that I didn’t really know the answers to. I therefore left the website with no job opportunities for my friend.

I later found MyJobSearch.com that simply gave me a box to enter a keyword title (cleaner) and a box to enter my region (postcode, town or county). These two easy steps brought up a comprehensive list of all cleaning jobs in Hampshire, I picked out a few local ones and my friend has two interviews for next week. If you’re looking for a job, part time or full time I would definitely recommend using My Job Search.

A pill that can stop your period

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

PillA new birth control pill is being developed that could mean we don’t have to suffer one week in every month anymore, woohoooo! The new pill called Lybrel made by Wyeth could be the first pill to change the menstrual cycle for many women.

Imagine your world with no more stomach cramps, bloating, stodgy food and chocolate cravings or an itchy rash from your sanitary towel! Furthermore the savings you will make on tampons and towels will mean you can get yourself a new pair of shoes at the end of the month.

To be honest though I’m not sure how many women would actually want to take the pill, after all word is that it is because of periods that women live longer. However I would probably be keen if I were off on a six month trip around the world, it would make the experience more enjoyable and easier. The pill has not been approved yet so I’m sorry if I just got your hopes up.

Sunrise and Sunset Digital Alarm Clock

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Sunrise Digital Alarm ClockThe most dreaded noise in the world has got to be my alarm clock - I’m rudely awoken every morning, usually disorientated, by the piercing sound of beeb beeb, beeb beeb. In my confusion I try to hit snooze, but usually end up turning it off by mistake and waking up late in a bad mood.

This Sunrise and Sunset Digital Alarm Clock has already been put on my Christmas list this year - apparently it’s perfect for people who want to learn how to relax before bed and wake up rested. There are four soothing nature sounds including gentle bird songs and the large backlit LCD display will allow you to gently wake to the sights of nature in your own bedroom.

Top 10 mobiles

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

If you’re not clued up on which mobiles are currently popular, I’ve come across a great guide of the latest mobile phones that should get you up to scratch. The guide splits the phones into two categories – multimedia phones and slim and sleek phones – so you can pick the one most suited to your taste. These phones will be the top sellers in the run up to Christmas so if you need a pressie for your other half this may be a valuable resource. Included in the top mobiles are the Sony Ericsson W810i and the Nokia N93 which we have reviewed here on The New Pink already.

Mango Winter Coat

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Mango Winter CoatThis year I decided on a long winter coat and while searching I came across this fab little number on Mango’s website. It jumped out at me as if it was made especially for me!

The style is flattering and I love the belt across the waist and the simple buttons. The neck sits really well across the chest and is wide enough to reveal what you have on underneath and show off any jewellery. Cream is a great colour to go for in a winter jacket too - it goes with pretty much everything and is much cheerier than black. The only problem is it will get dirty very easily.

Available for £110 from Mango.

Life-size Scrabble!

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Life-size ScrabbleI think this is a bizarre but fantastic design! The seating is based on the popular board game Scrabble and is actually installed in the London Offices of Bloomsberg Financial Services.

Those waiting in the seating area can make words and leave messages with the printed letter cushions … I wonder if they actually use these cushions and if they only ever make polite words?! Check out the designer’s other ideas

Bright lips on the catwalk

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Red LipstickIt seems that colourful lips are appearing on the catwalk - red lips have been popular for many years and this season is no exception, but colours have become more comlex with tangerine, berry wine and black grape making appearances.

Anna Sui wore a super-glossy fuchsia pink shade for the coming season, and check out the other models over on Handbag.com. Lips are smudgy, bold, transparent and beautifully colourful!

Illuminated Pillows

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Illuminated PillowsWhen I first saw these illuminated pillows I wasn’t overly impressed and wondered just how practical they would be. Then I began to look at them properly and thought how amazing they’d look decorating your garden on a dark evening – for a garden party this autumn these illuminated pillows will add a touch of magic. You can just imagine them brightening up your chairs and think how impressed your guests will be!

A light emitting fabric that blends optical fiber with other fibers is connected to a light source and then activated by a battery or direct current – the result is a magical, arty effect. They’re pretty expensive at $499.99, but I guess if you’re the kind of person that has garden parties all year round, you can probably afford it!
