Sorry kids: No PS3 this year

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

PlayStation 3Rumour has it that the much awaited PlayStation 3 consoles will not be available in the UK before Christmas – Uh Oh! Santa will not be popular this year when children find out that the toy top of their list wont be under the tree. According to an article I read today in the Daily Mail Sony has been forced to delay the launch due to such a high demand for the product across the world. The consoles are now set to be launched in the UK and the rest of Europe in March 2007, a year later than originally predicted. Japan and the US will still be able to purchase the PS3 in time for Christmas however not as many will be available as Sony had hoped.

The PS3 is not just a games console, it is an advanced piece of technology that allows owners to connect to the Internet for downloading purposes and watch high-def movies as well as play the endless number of games available. At around £425 per console you would expect it to have all these features. So sorry kids no PS3 this year.

Princess Nikki

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Princess NikkiBig Brother contestant Nikki launched her new show, Princess Nikki, last night on E4. She lived up to her reputation of throwing temper tantrums and whining constantly – in fact I think she’s getting worse! The series follows her attempts to hold down an everyday job but as you can probably imagine (if you were a BB fan) Nikki doesn’t fall into working very easily.

In last night’s episode she was sent on a fishing boat and then to work in a fish and chip shop – if Nikki ever needs to get a proper job in the future (probably in a couple of years when everyone has forgotten who she is) I don’t think this is the way to go – she’s pretty much unemployable now! But I guess that’s her own fault, the show makes great viewing. I just wonder how Pete puts up with her? …

Babyphat Bags

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Princess Tote BagFor only $85, these lovely Princess II Tote bags from Babyphat are the must have for autumn. Available in Beige, Black and Brown I just can’t decide which colour to go for. Each bag is made from ostrich embossed fabric and studded leather trim. The Crown ornament adds a touch or royal class and the cute zipper is a really nice detail. These bags are 20” wide 12.5” and 8.5” deep, so it’s big enough for all your essentials, the platform bottom helps the bag keep its stylish shape even when stuffed full. If you would prefer something a bit smaller or with a different shape the Princess Satchel and Overnight Bag are good alternatives see the Babyphat Website for more details.

MoPods

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

MoPodIf you were interested in my post on Verballs yesterday, these MoPods will probably be right up your street. Whereas Verballs are for VoIP users, MoPods are for mobile lovers – these little characters live in transparent domes and spin or flash when your mobile receives a text or call!

These mobile accessories are pretty handy if your phone’s in silent mode – you’ll never miss a call again, perfect if you’re in the office, on a noisy train or sitting in a pub. Characters available include a kitten, penguin, devil and monster - sit the MoPod on your desktop to brighten up your day. For under £5 who can resist!

Cufflinks for women

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Cufflinks for womenI came across these cufflinks for women and thought why don’t more women wear them? These hand decorated bone china cufflinks would do a great job of brightening up a dull office outfit, although you’d need a shirt/blouse with a hole on each side of the cuff (a double cuff).

Apparently these shirts are still readily available in stores - I guess I’ve never really looked closely as I don’t associate cufflinks with women. Well that’s all going to change because these cufflinks are really cute - I want to be the first in the office to own a pair!

The Sex Kitten and Chocoholic cufflinks are shown here, but there are also Shopoholic ones available. Each pair will cost you £15.99 from Bitsnstuff.

Ali Lohan Releases Christmas Album

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Oh no not another Lohan, lets just hope Lindsay’s sister doesn’t love herself as much as she does. 12 year old Ali Lohan is releasing her first album, “Lohan Holiday” on October 10 under the YMC Records/UME lable. Songs on the album are Ali’s interpretation of christmas holiday classics such as Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells and a collaboration with Amy Grant on “Santa’s Reindeer Ride”. There will also be some original works on the album; “I like Christmas” will be Ali’s first single release. I have no idea why this is being released in October maybe that’s when the Lohan Family celebrate Christmas.

D&G Victorian Space Sports Shirt

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

D&G Silver Top Call me mad, but I think I actually want to be seen out in this top. I can’t really explain what it is I like about it, well the fact that its made by Dolce and Gabbana might have something to do with it. For some reason I love the completely clashing styles. Two strip/spacesuit/victoriankitsch…Hmmm, anyway its certainly different!

If you have as strange taste as me this top can be purchased from www.bluefly.com for $102. Apparently its usual retail price is $170 so that’s as 40% saving. Oh and incase you were wondering the writing says “Marie Antionette a la rose’, ‘Modesty Humility Luxury’, ‘I Shall Survive, Orgasmic Chill”

The Litebook

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

The LitebookAfter writing my previous post on the USB Flower Fan, I’ve decided as much as it pains me, it really is time to say goodbye to summer. Funnily enough I came across the Litebook straight after uploading my post, and have now decided I may be one of those people whose mood is affected by the seasons and that’s why I find it so hard accepting summer is over.

According to the manufacturer, the Lightbook has been clinically proven to boost the spirits of sufferers of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and while I don’t think I’m suffering from the disorder, I definitely think this Lightbook would help lift my spirits on dark winter days. Apparently it can also help you achieve more restful sleeping patterns and make you feel more energised too.

Bright light is something your body craves and this way you get all the benefits, without the risk of harmful UV. A recommended 15-30 minutes a day should help boost spirits back to that of a cheery summer’s day. The Litebook is tipped to be available in stores when October comes around, for the recommended retail price of £199.

Mercury Monkeys

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

Artic MonkeysLast night the Arctic Monkeys took home the Mercury Music Prize after beating nominees including Muse, Thom Yorke and Richard Hawley. The win did not come as surprise to many as the monkeys had been favourites to win and have had a meteoric rise to the top. Their album “Whatever People Say I am That’s What I’m Not” became the UK’s fastest selling debut album in history selling over 360,000 copies in its first week. “Normally it doesn’t go to a band that has sold as many albums as we have” said Alex turner when accepting the award.

Many fans were disappointed that the band did not play at the awards, neither did contenders Muse, but as the Artic Monkeys are known for their reserve with the media, most were just glad that they turned up at all. Hear what the fuss is all about on the Arctic Monkeys Offical Website.

USB Flower Fan

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

USB Flower FanI still can’t accept that summer’s over, especially on a lovely day like today so here’s a great little gadget for a hot and sunny day. The Flower Fan plugs into your USB port (or can run off batteries too) and will whip up a breeze to cool you down – plus look how cute it is! Apparently it’s so powerful it’s in danger of blowing itself over and a small blob of blue tack is recommended to hold it down!

I guess I’ll have to accept the inevitable sooner or later (that winters on its way) but this little fan would be great for stuffy offices all year round!

For only £9.95 from iwantoneofthose.com, think how much cheerier your desk will look.

Tartan Up Your Wardrobe

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

Tartan Jacket

Tartan just keeps coming back! If you prefer something a bit more feminine and different from the red traditional tartan there are a range of different colours and patterns. If you have scottish ancestry you could even find the exact fabric that belongs to your clan on Tartans-Scotland .

This blue and aubergine jacket is my favourite item from Topshop’s wide selection of tartan clothes. It’s a beautiful cut and ties on the sleeve and bows on the pockets give it a girly feel. I love the curve of the collar and the length of the jacket makes this a cute item rather than a serious smart jacket. This jacket will set you back £55 pounds and you can get it online at topshop.co.uk or from selected Topshop stores around the UK. It would look great with jeans or if you really want to splash get the gorgeous matching knee length skirt, also from topshop.com priced £32.

French Connection Red Flame Coat

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

French Connection Flame CoatFrench Connection have launched their autumn/winter range, and there are some great clothes to snap up this season. As much as I hate to wave goodbye to summer, I think now that September has arrived, it’s time to accept it. But on a positive note, this means a whole new season of clothes. And to begin, this Flame Coat is gorgeous.

It may not be a colour that goes with everything, which is how I usually base my choice for a winter coat, but it’s stylish, cute and will definitely get you noticed. It covers the whole of your top-half, which means it only has to match your bottom half, so I guess most trousers or skirts could be found to compliment it. Or perhaps you could be daring like the FCUK model and not wear anything under it - that would solve it …

Available for £140 from French Connection
