Waterproof Playing Cards

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Waterproof Playing CardsSo I know things have moved on a bit from playing cards (most people spend more time watching TV, listening to music, playing on the computer etc) but who can deny they buy a pack each year to take away on holiday? I admit I love a game of cards – if I’m burnt, if the weather’s not great or if I’m in need of a drinking game in the evening! I also bet every year you come home and find soggy cards stuck to the inside of your bag that have got wet in the rain, or had drinks spilt on them. Well here’s the solution – waterproof playing cards!

It’s not the money you’ll save from having to buy them each year that’s great (playing cards are peanuts) but the convenience of always having a pack there when you need them. Simply wipe away the spillages and store them in a cupboard for next time … I think these are great!

Style BubbleThere are thousands of blogs on the web related to fashion but this one caught my eye due to the way the site is designed and the unique content of each post. This blog has many articles related to catwalk fashions, shoes and vintage outfits etc. but also a number of photographs taken by amateur photographers. I love the style of their posts that have a photograph of someone with a camera in front of their face.

Guess Roma Large Satchel

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Guess BagAs soon as I saw this bag I fell in love with it, the detail and design is immaculate and the colour scheme is strong yet tones are subtle. The bag has the signature ‘G’ repeated over the body and a gorgeous brown leather snakeskin handle and buckle.

The satchel is quite large measuring at 14”x 81/2”x 4”, perfect for all your everyday necessities and also great for dressing up a plain outfit. The silver studs finish off the design beautifully and bring a modern touch to the accessory. The bag is currently selling on the Guess Website for $90, please let me know if you find it selling in the UK.

Clerks II

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

If you are fans of Jay and Silent Bob or the original Clerks from 1994 this is definitely a film for you. Clerks II brings together a great cast including Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee from ‘My name is Earl’ – an E4 comedy classic, Brian O’Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Rosario Dawson and an appearance from Ben Affleck.

Mini-mart clerks Dante (O’Halloran) and Randal (Anderson) are happy with their everyday jobs of slacking off as much as possible and earning the minimum wage. However, their comfortable lifestyle is about to change as they watch the mini-mart go up in flames. They land a job at a burger bar where we meet their manager Becky (Dawson) and some other familiar faces! This film is both humorous and easy to watch, if you enjoyed comedies such as ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ or ‘Mallrats’ then you will laugh your pants off!

Shewee

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

SheweeI’m both curious and disturbed by this little gadget! Designed to allow you to go to the loo standing up like a man, the shewee is intended for those situations when you can’t find a loo or would rather pee yourself than sit on a dirty one.

Apparently you hold the funnel against your bits and there are no drips, leaks or spillages! I’ve yet to try it out – it’s recommended you practice in the shower first before you go solo. I’m really not sure about this!

For those of you who are worried about how hygienic this product is, apparently urine is sterile when it leaves the body so it’s perfectly hygienic! Once you’re done, simply rinse or shake the shewee and pop it back into the self sealing bag. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tested it out …

Available for £5 from Sheactive.

Add social bookmark icons to your blog

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

Aimi’s boyfriend Paul is a true web geek and he has advised us today that we should make our blog more web 2.0 by putting some social bookmarking icons (like digg, delicious, reddit etc..) on to the bottom of every post we make. How do we do that? Well luckily some kind chap has written a bookmarks bar plugin for WordPress, which is the software we use for our blog.

Instructions

  1. Download the plugin from here
  2. Extract the files and then upload the social_bar folder to wp-content/plugins/
  3. Go to wordpress admin > plugins and then activate the social bar plugin

And that’s it!

London Fashion Weekend

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

London Fashion WeekLondon Fashion Week is in full swing so I visited the natural history museum yesterday to get a peak at what was going on around there. Unfortunately I didn’t get too close to the party by flashing my “new pink journo” status and ended up looking at a bunch of old bones instead. However, I’m please to say that I’ve discovered a way that we fashion mortals can get a piece of fashion week fun. London Fashion Weekend is taking place between 27th of September and 1st October. There will be plenty of stalls displaying the latest new trends, including Lulu Guinness, Agent Provocateur, Ronit Zikha and Jasper Conran. Toni and Guy, Elizabeth Arden and the Superdrug nail bar will be there to ensure you are styled up to LFW standard, and you can enjoy the official champagne of LFW at the Moet Bar.

If you are interested in getting tickets visit www.londonfashionweekend.co.uk tickets are ten pounds. Or get exclusive opening night (Wednesday the 27th) tickets for 15 pounds from Grazia magazine and £5.50 will be donated to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer® UK.

Kate Moss – Fashion Designer

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Kate Moss has signed a deal for a reported 1 million pounds to design her own collection for Topshop. Kate made an unexpected appearance at the Topshop fashion show before fashion week recently and said that she often shops in Topshop and loves what the chain stands for. Since then rumours of her debut into the designing world have been flying around London Fashion Week. Kate was pictured in today’s TheLondoner shaking hands with Topshop owner Philip Green so it looks like the rumours are true. Apparently the new range will be in shops in the New Year. Kate always said that she wanted to start designing at some point, It will be interesting to see if the range follows her own style or is more creative.

The Gran Guadalpin Hotel – Marbella

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Hotel Gvadalpin MarbellaSpain is a great place to visit this September if your summer tan is already fading. Marbella is the richest town in Spain and a famous playground for the wealthy, but a holiday there doesn’t have to leave you with a hole in your pocket. The Gran Guadalpin is a great hotel with the best facilities around and it doesn’t cost a fortune. There are actually two Guadalpin hotels around Marbella. Guadapin Banus is a short walk from the glamourous port, Puerto Banus, which is teaming with three story yachts, fast cars, and designer stores. The hotel is quite trendy with a court yard pool which overlooks the sea.

There is a free taxi between this hotel and the Gudalpin in marbella’s golden mile. This hotel is my favourite of the two but is more family orientated. It has a large outdoor area with a great pool and impressive 50ft palm trees. The suites are really spacious and come with hot tubs and massive verandas. The buffet breakfast at this hotel was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have experienced and the spa is definitely worth a visit – I recommend the deep cleansing facial. If you are looking for a really good value book this hotel with three friends and share a two bedroom suite.

Pink satnav!

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Cartrek 400For all you girly girls out there, here’s a great accessory for your car! Cartrek’s new satnav not only looks great but is simple to use so there’s no need for wasting time on long instruction manuals or annoying downloads. Simply plug it in, switch it on and you’re ready to hit the road. For the not so girly girls the Cartrek 400’s also available in black – but I personally love the pink!

It’s already a best seller in Europe and now for the first time, it’s available in the UK. Not only will it guide you around the UK, but also includes maps of the whole of Europe and speaks 13 languages. For £249 this is a must-have gadget to brighten up your car.
