Tune your run
After discovering how expensive it is to stick to Gillian McKeith’s Nutrition Plan, I decided that exercise may be the way forward – after all it’s free. I thought running round the block a few times a day would be better than nothing and promised myself a new iPod (for motivation). While browsing the web I came across Nike + iPod – a new partnership between Nike and Apple where your iPod nano becomes your personal trainer. (Yes you heard right, your iPod nano does become your coach!).
I actually love the idea of this – although there goes my theory about exercise being free. You need to buy a pair of Nike + shoes, an iPod nano and the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. The Nike + shoes have a built-in pocket under the insole which the Nike + iPod sensor fits into, and the iPod Sport Kit allows your Nike + shoes to talk to your iPod nano (all a bit of a mouthful!)
So not only will you be able to listen to your favourite tunes, but you’ll hear real-time feedback on your speed, distance and calories burned. You can even compete in virtual races with runners all over the web and then log onto nikeplus.com for the results. Or if you just want to compete against yourself, you are able to see your best times/distance/speed and try to break these.
I’ve got a feeling that Nike + iPod will be extremely popular, however when I went through to purchase a pair of the Nike + trainers the prices weren’t available … I suspect this is bad news for the wallet.
