Wow, when I saw these in the ‘just arrived’ section on River Island’s website I thought they were gorgeous - very ‘in’ this season. I’ve found the peep toe style very complimentary to feet and I love shoes that have a gap on the inside like these (a gap in the material from the heel to the sole). They’d look fab with the ASOS clutch bag I reviewed last week and be ideal for a night out on the town.
Available for £44.99 from River Island

This is definitely an offer worth peeking at if you’re on Orange and your mobile contract is due for renewal. The 12 month contract deal includes a free D900 handset, 250 inclusive anytime xnet minutes and 250 text messages with 8 months half price line rental. The 18 month contract includes 500 minutes and 500 texts with 12 months half price line rental and the Magic Number feature. Like many offers this is a cashback deal therefore you still pay £35 a month but get money back by sending Orange some of your monthly bills. The deal can be found at the Carphone Warehouse.
The Samsung D900 is a popular phone known worldwide as the ‘slimmest slider’ due to its slim body and sliding functionality. It has a 3.13 megapixel camera that enables you to take high quality photographs and videos that can later be viewed on the high resolution screen or transferred to your computer. The phone also has a TV output feature allowing you to share your pictures easily. If you’ve ever tried using your laptop lying down then you’ll really appreciate what a great idea this laptop table is. It has three rotating joints in each leg and can be used in a variety of ways; 1. If you’re sitting on your bed or sofa your laptop can rest on the table, saving your legs having to carry the weight, 2. If you’re lying down the table can be positioned diagonally to support your laptop, and 3. If you simply can’t find a conventional desk available.
I’m not really sure of the price as it’s advertised on a Japanese website and unfortunately I don’t understand it, but I’m definitely going to get myself one of these one way or another!

I have just spotted this Olay moisturiser in this week’s Closer magazine and thought it was worth a mention. The product acts as both a moisturiser and an anti aging cream for young skin facing the very first signs of aging. Total Effects First Effects is designed to smoothen and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and attempts to plump up the surface of your skin.
Obviously there are thousands of products on sale designed to reduce the appearance of aging but this one caught my eye because it is targeted specifically at young people. The product is suitable for all skin types and contains VitaNiacin, Olay’s unique complex of Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 and Pro Vitamin B5, ceramides and anti-oxidant Green Tea. See Olay’s Website for further details.

Ok so I promised that I was going to “rediscover london” this weekend by taking advantage of lastminute.com’s offer on entrance to Buckingham place and afternoon tea at the Atheneum – well does spending the weekend in a London hotel count as resdiscovering London? – I honestly went there with the intention of going to the palace but it was just too wet! Anyway I did discover a nice boutique hotel. It’s called 41 and with only 20 rooms and 4 suites it’s really for the elite. It’s on Buckingham Palace Road so it’s a stones throw from some of the best attractions – yes, like Buckingham Palace – and a great location for shopping in Oxford Street, Mayfair or Knightsbridge. This five star hotel has an impressive library style lounge complete with roaring fire and an open bar which you can help yourself to and pay for via an honesty box. The hotel offers four suites which are spilt level with the dining area on the bottom floor leading up to a large sleeping area with state of the art entertainment equipment. Thoughtful extra touches such as chocolates on pillows and strawberries by the bath tub set this hotel apart, but the most impressive feature of the grand suite was its glass ceiling, which must be nice on a clear day!

The DeFIBulator is the first hand-held voice tension detector – oh I can’t wait to test this one out! Apparently the DeFIBulator uses voice tension technology to measure the varying degrees of vibrations when someone speaks and has a very high accuracy rate detecting lies – although I personally wouldn’t base life changing decisions on this little gadget myself!
It can be connected to your mobile, which is where I can see it becoming a popular accessory – and you simply have to train the DeFIBulator to the human voice by asking 3 yes/no questions.
Then ask the real yes/no questions and watch the figure on the screen! According to Spy Emporium, the figure’s nose and horns will grow longer when there is more tension in the voice. Whether you want to use this on your boyfriend or as a party trick for your friends, the DeFIBulator sounds like a great gadget to me! Available from Spy Emporium for $89.99.

Caudalie have transformed the way I think about wine – apparently rubbing the grapes onto your skin (unfortunately not drinking the finished product) is really good for you. Created at a Bordeaux vineyard, Caudalie’s product range is based around grape seeds, which contain an ingredient that is apparently 10,000 times better at fighting anti-oxidants than Vitamin E.
One of the products - The Crushed Cabernet Scrub smoothes out cellulite and has a draining effect, which Caudalie say leaves skin smooth and nourished. The formula is all natural (crushed grape seeds are mixed with brown sugar, pure Gironde honey, and 6 organic essential oils) and available for the reasonable price of £26. Apparently you can book your very own Vinotherapist to apply the scrub as part of the Crushed Cabernet Scrub treatment!

Flora have now launched their Omega 3 Plus Probiotic mini drink which helps to maintain a healthy heart and contains good bacteria making it great for your digestive system. The best thing about this drink in my eyes is its low calorie contents compared to other leading similar products such as actimel original and activia yogurts. The Flora mini drink only has 58 calories, 1.6g of fat but also 80mg of Omega 3 from fish making it great for both children and adults.
The mini drink is available in strawberry and raspberry both of which are yummy and great for a morning snack. Also if you can’t get your kids to eat fish, this is a great way to still get some Omega 3 into them and give them a boost at breakfast time. Visit the Flora Website for more information.

Last night The Sharon Osbourne Show debuted on ITV1 where Sharon and her pooch Minnie took to the floor in their much anticipated new chat show. We have seen Sharon’s fiery side many times in the Ex-Factor such as throwing a glass of water over Louis last year when he sent home Maria. However we also know Sharon as a motherly figure who empathises with people and gives some good advice. In my opinion she has the perfect qualities to be a great host.
Penny Lancaster was invited to star as Sharon’s first celeb guest on the show last night and there was also a chat with Granny Edna Moor – the memorable lady who shouted at Simon Cowell in this year’s Ex-Factor auditions. The show is set to host many more interviews with both celebs and the public and will hopefully be bringing entertainment to our living rooms.

These nifty little gadgets sit inside your handbag and light up so you can see the contents – genius. No longer will women everywhere have to spend wasted time digging through to find what they’re looking for – usually a lipstick, eyeliner or keys in my case.
The handbag lights are sold as a set of three (one black, one pink and one blue) and have an easy on/off button and slim design to fit inside the smallest of handbags. Apparently these lights have been available in the US for ages, but have only recently come over to the UK – definitely a great idea if you’ve had a few too many to drink and usually spend most of your night on the doorstep looking for your keys … Available for £14.99 from Boutique to You.

Last weekend my boyfriend popped to town to get some lunch and came back with Guitar Hero. Girls - if you need a bit of time to yourself this is the perfect gift for your partner, it will keep them entertained for hours if not days. Guitar hero is an interactive computer game that comes with a plastic guitar (almost full size) and a DVD for your PS2. The guitar has five different colour buttons on the left that play different sounds and a strumming button on the body of the guitar.
The DVD is a compilation of kick ass rock songs from 1980’s hits to recent popular anthems; you will probably know many of them so you can sing along. The scene on the TV is set in a bar with a stage for the band and a lively audience. If you are good they will cheer and if you are bad they will boo and if you are really bad you will lose the game. There are ability levels so you can start off in easy mode and progress to difficult.
The idea of the game is to play along with the band, the TV will tell you what colour button/buttons to press at what time and when you must strum. Although easy rules to follow it does get confusing when you have seven different colour combinations thrown at you in the space of 2 seconds! This game is fun for most people to play and at one point me, my boyfriend and his little sister were all fighting over whose go it was next.
You can currently purchase Guitar Hero at Amazon.co.uk for £39.99.

The Broadway hit musical Wicked is now showing in London at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The storyline follows the witches from the classic story the Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. In the film the storyline concentrated on Dorothy and her journey through Oz with the lion, scarecrow and tin-man however the other side of the story wasn’t told until now. This time the focus of the story is on two young witches called Elphaba and Glinda and we follow their battle between good and evil. Wicked has already won 15 awards including a Grammy and three Tony awards plus excellent reviews from a number of top newspapers.
What’s even better is that ASOS.com is currently holding a competition to win VIP tickets for you and a friend to attend the premiere of the show. The prize also includes an invite to the after party show and a stay in a 4* hotel. All you have to do is sign up to ASOS’ newsletter to be in with a chance of winning. Not bad eh.

Miss Sixty opens a hotel. Yes that’s right, a hotel owned by a fashion label - what next, McDonalds selling clothes? I’m not 100% convinced about this, but it does look funky. Apparently the hotel has web cams installed in the rooms and is ‘a place for people who use a hotel not just for sleeping and having breakfast’ - I guess Sixty Hotel has it’s own unique edge!
So it doesn’t give off the impression of a classy place to me, but it is stylish - the overall design was overseen by Studio 63, who are the people responsible for the interiors of the Miss Sixty boutiques.
According to the Sixty Hotel website, this is just the first of a chain of 4* hotels. This one is located in Northern Italy - rooms will apparently be in the price range of 120 and 180eu excluding breakfast.

Google launched their free wireless Internet service called Google WiFi Mountain View this month, so residents in Mountain View, California have one less bill to pay now each month. The service is completely free and not supported via ads - 72,000 residents of Mountain View will benefit as the service covers some 12 square mile radius of the town.
Speeds aren’t superfast (they’ve been reported at 1Mbps) but the free alternative to DSL and Cable offerings will probably be embraced by most. Apparently Google have also teamed up with Earthlink, for a more ambitious project of providing wireless Internet service to the San Francisco area.
Are Google planning on national WiFi domination? … I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
